Aging on the other hand is about living, the changes experienced during the course of ones life and the relationship on the interdependency among different generations throughout life.
Theories about age finally have a focus on late life, which describe old age as both a medical, economic, social problem in terms of support and care.
In conclusions its important to no note that for one to achieve a healthy aging, the mind like any other body muscle must be exercised in a regular basis in order to grow and stay stronger, this can be achieved through interacting and meeting with friends, this in return will keep the person mentally and intellectually active hence keeping our mind young and healthy. Contrary to this, due to our limited activities, as we age our minds tend to lose sharpness that is normally characterized during the young age, research shows that our mind can always stay young although biological changes may create a tendency to affect how we think. It is also of great importance to understand how the process of aging can turned into something positive, for instance most literatures, television programs, columns on newspapers highlight aging process as something physiological and regardless of anything should be accepted in a positive manner. One should make a step beyond body image and develop a soul identity which in return will enable one develop a spiritual potential which could prevent psychological and in return physiological aspects of aging, this is depicted by people of ancient times who led deeply spiritual lives and they indeed lived longer and looked younger than we do.
Recommendations to healthy aging
There are a number of tips that were proposed by Governor's Commission on Healthy Aging (2010), on healthy aging that are worth implementing in order to ensure that our aged citizens have it easy in their chosen or preferred places of aging. These are as follows
Healthier living workshop; the aging population should be provided with the essential knowledge on how to manage the chronic conditions that they may be having. This will help them also improve their health status as well as change their behaviors leading to a better living condition and healthier aging.
Locally grown foods; these have been proved to be more nutritious and natural, devoid of any chemicals and hormones that is characteristic of the commercially grown foods. It will also make the access to these foods easy for the aging since they will not have to travel long distances to shop for them.
Nutrition screening; there should be an increased and more vigilant nutrition screening and sensitization program conducted among the aged and the aging so that it would equip them with the correct dietary combination for the aging since there is absolute need for the aging to get the right combination of nutrition to avoid rampant infections and avoidable sicknesses.
A good nursing home for the aged will as well provide various recreations and socialization platforms like gyms with a fitness instructor, computer room religious provisions and nature walk areas. These are activities that will ensure the individuals are not prone to stress, depression and strain in their aging life hence providing a healthy aging.
